ONCE YOU HAVE COMPLETED NEW LEADER ESSENTIALS,
YOU DO NOT NEED TO TAKE IT AGAIN WHEN YOU
CHANGE POSITIONS IN THE FUTURE!
YOU WILL NEED ONLY TO COMPLETE THE
POSITION-SPECIFIC COURSE FOR THE
NEW POSITION TO RETAIN 'TRAINED' STATUS.

Visit the council website training page to find upcoming training courses, and even take your first steps of training online...the Online Fast Start Training course is available to take online from the comfort of your home!

Once you're TRAINED, don't forget that there are ongoing learning opportunities! Attend Pow-Wow each November, and make a goal of enrolling in Wood Badge.  Wood Badge is more than just Scouting training; it will help you in your personal and professional life as well.

Adults may also earn special Adult Training awards based on leadership tenure, training, and performance.  These are the knots worn above the left pocket.  See the Adult Training Awards page for more information and to print the form for your position.

Each pack is encouraged to name an adult to the position of Pack Trainer.  This person ensures that new adults have the information they need to get started on training, and keeps tabs on the training status of each adult in the pack.

Adult Leader Training is the most important thing an adult can accomplish!

Training provides a solid foundation for pleasurable, exciting, and  rewarding involvement in Scouting.

The chart at left shows the TRAINING STEPS:

First, a new adult takes Fast Start Training, either by video or online.

Then New Leader Essentials and Leader Specific trainings are completed.  Once you've finished these three simple steps, you can wear the trained strip on your uniform...and call yourself 'trained!'

There are many additional opportunities to hone your leadership skills...from Pow-Wow and Wood Badge to District Roundtable and lots of other events.  Adults can continue to learn new skills as long as they're involved in Scouting!
