Jost Krehbiel Family Tree Chart

These 4 large pictures are overlapping pictures of a large wall chart. Mary Ritenour reports that this chart was created in 1900 by a J. J. Krehbiel from Moundridge Kansas which details 9 generations of descendants of this Jost Krehbiel (Mary's grandfather Phillip Krehbiel is in the sixth generation after Jost Krehbiel).

While on a recent trip to Virginia to see my family, I was able to visit with Mary Ritenour (a fun morning with a very nice person, and I learned a lot about the branch of our family that migrated to Russia) and she allowed me to take pictures of the chart. I attempted to join the pictures into one big picture of the chart, but was unsuccessful because a couple of the pictures were not straight. So I've put all 4 pictures up so you could look at them and see if one is clearer than the other.

Mary reports: I'm still trying to transcribe the chart information into Family Tree Maker. When I get that complete, I'll be happy to provide a GEDCOM file for your site. I estimate there are 300-400 names on this chart, and it ends with my grandfather's generation, so there is much to fill in, to bring it current.

I've had news from John D. Thiesen, Archivist and Co-director of Libraries, Mennonite Library and Archives, Bethel College, North Newton, KS. He has a copy of the Krehbiel chart there (as reported by James Krehbiel). There is also a copy in Goshen, Indiana at the Goshen College Mennonite Historical Library. Sandra Hess, librarian at MHL, was kind enough to get a photocopy of their chart for me, and it is quite clear.

Dr. Harley Stucky has transcribed and translated the lithograph and as far as I know still has copies for sale. Contact information for Harley Stucky will be provided as soon as we find it.
