PLAC immigrated to Clayton Co. IowaThomas left Snyder County, PA [now Juniata County] in 1840, he took a towboat down the Ohi o River then Steamship up the Mississippi River toPrairie la Porte where he joined his broth er Herman who was alreadythere in 1836 where he appears on the Dubuque County, Territory o fWisconsin census. Herman died there in 1843.
Thomas, Amelia and Family had a very difficult time here and soon werevery sick with Malar ia and soon lost their baby Mary
William was the first White child born at Prairie la Porte [Guttenberg]Iowa. He was born pre maturely while his Mother Amelia was unconsciouswith malaria. The whole family was sick wit h malaria. Amelia andThomas's daughter Mary died during this time prior to Williams birth
Herman Graybill left his wife Susannah (seperated) and 2 children inPennsylvania when he lef t for Prairie La Porte, now Guttenberg, Iowa. Hewent to Iowa in 1836 which was part of Wisco nsin Territory at this time.
Susannah Baughman and Herman Graybill were cousins through MagdalenaSchneider, Herman's Moth er.
